What is the 30 Hour Famine?

29,000 children under age 5 die every day because of hunger.  That’s one child every 5 seconds.
Of these children, 15,000 die as a result of malnutrition.  That’s almost 5.5 million children a year.
Around the world, more than 850 million people are hungry - including over 300 million children.  That’s one out of every six people on the planet. Worldwide hunger seems like such an impossible problem.  But it’s not.  Every year, kids here at Faith go without food for 30 Hours.  We experience hunger.  Every year, the kids at Faith build shelters, and experience homelessness.  Every year the Refuge raises money, and we SAVE KIDS’ LIVES. How do we raise money?  We get people in the community to sponsor our fast.  We ask people to give $1 for every hour we give up food.  And that $30 feeds, clothes, educates, and medicates one child for an entire month!
You can ask teachers, parents, friends.  You can mow lawns, babysit, or use your allowance to support a kid yourself!  Collect bottles, put cans around town, do anything to Be Seen and Be Heard. On April 6th, we are having a 30 Hour Famine kick-off at BLT and Foundations.  We will be having sign-ups, testimonies, and giving away t-shirts and sweaters. And then, on May 16th, we will Be Hungry.  Join us as we change the world, one child at a time.
